United Kingdom Country Artists

This is an incomplete, non-definitive guide to British (and Irish) country music, or at least the small sliver of it visible to me, here in the distant American colonies. There have been an awful lot of UK (and Irish) twangbands, dating back many decades, and many remain quite obscure, even on the fair isles. But I'll keep banging away and tracking down as many artists as I can find. As always, any helpful comments, corrections and suggestions are welcome.

Dick Edwards "Big City Boy" (RA Records, 1972-?) (LP)
(Produced by Elizabeth Usher, Harry Hall & A. J. Waldron)

A country music set from Richard Thomas Edwards (1942-2022) a professional football player who kicked off his musical career recording a fight song for Torquay United, a team from Devon he played for around the time this album was recorded. This disc showcases a lot of original songs, including several credited to Edwards, and at least one composition from Raymond Froggatt, a tune called "A Million Miles." Edwards also released several singles, including some late '70s/early '80s EPs released as The Dick Edwards Duo. As far as I know, this was his only full album, and seems to have been recorded in a different sessions with a couple of different studio bands; the independent RA Records label focussed mainly of folkie material, but also had a few country records in its quiver, and most of the musicians seem to have been from the RA stable.
