Herb Remington was one of the great steel guitar players of the post-WWII era, joining a pared-down version of Bob Will's Texas Playboys in 1945 and emerging as one of western swing's major solo stylists. He later jumped over to Hank Penny's band and recorded a number of highly regarded instrumental albums, and composed several tunes that have become standards of instrumental country music. Remington also worked steadily as a studio musician in the '60s and '70s. Many of his solo sets have been reissued on specialty labels aimed at steel guitar fans...
