I confess, I have a hard time thinking of Bobby Goldsboro as a "country" artist, although once he had his big crossover hit, "Honey," in 1968, the pop second-stringer found a new home in the country marketplace. Originally a teen-oriented pop-rocker who was part of Roy Orbison's band in the early 'Sixties, Goldsboro largely failed to find traction as a solo artist until he broke through with "Honey," after which he was a constant presence on the pop/pop vocals scene, even though his songs typically did much better on the Country charts.
