British country satirist Hank Wangford (ne Dr. Samuel Hutt) is a real-life medical doctor who slid sideways into show business in the 1960s, supposedly drawn into the pop-rock market after meeting numerous performers who were seeking help with their substance abuse problems. He started out as a songwriter, placing a few tunes with English artists and recording a single or two himself, but it was with country music that he really found his calling -- or rather, his country music alter ego Wangford found it.
